Lenten Reflection: Day 13

From Surrender All:

Women have the honor of carrying life within their very bodies. Yet Satan twists that into something shameful and inconvenient. Innocent love gets distorted to objectification. Personal interests, power, and profits are celebrated over life itself. Compassion and empathy, intrinsic to a woman’s very nature, are redefined as weak and pitiable. As the woman’s place of honor as a daughter and keeper of life has been devalued, children are viewed as liabilities and women are treated as second-class citizens. The consequence is that women and creation have been used, abused, and treated as lesser property, all in the name of other gods. And when women don’t know their own worth, how can they possibly help men stay true to their own holy call to care for creation?
