William J. Doheny, C.S.C. (1898–1982), was dean of the Notre Dame Law School, assistant superior of the Congregation of Holy Cross, and advocate and procurator of the Roman Rota. To foster the knowledge and practice of prayer, he translated and published many classic works of spirituality and distributed them free to religious and lay readers alike.
