Get a Fresh Vision for Life in the Spirit

Featuring Lavinia Spirito

May 18, 2023 | 42 min.

When is the last time your received “explosive power” from the Holy Spirit? Lavinia Spirito tells how she was lifted from the pain of a broken family and set on fire to pursue the Lord. She explains how Acts of the Apostles provides a blueprint for sharing the Gospel in our noisy world and a fresh vision of what it means to live by the Spirit. Lavinia also describes how she engages with Scripture and explains why Psalm 37:3-7 is a particular favorite.

Lavinia Spirito is a Catholic teacher, spiritual director, and evangelist who speaks internationally and leads pilgrimages to Rome and Israel. Take Lavinia’s Favorite Scripture to Your Next Holy Hour

Pray: Come, Holy Spirit, open my heart and mind to hear your word today.

Read the Word: Psalm 37:3–7

(Read it in your own Bible to get the context, and so you can make notes.)

Trust in the Lord, and do good;
    so you will dwell in the land, and enjoy security.
Take delight in the Lord,
    and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the Lord;
    trust in him, and he will act.
He will bring forth your vindication as the light,
    and your right as the noonday.

Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him;
    fret not yourself over him who prospers in his way,
    over the man who carries out evil devices!

Ponder the Word: Read several times, lingering where it touches your heart. Notice both the imperatives (what the Psalmist says to do) and the promised results. What catches your attention? What do you hear the Lord saying to you?

Pray with the Word: Bring to the Lord what you have heard, and talk to him about it. Ask for his grace. Thank him for his loving care.

Live the Word: How does what you read touch your life? What can you do this week to put it into practice?
